Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, pour in the coconut milk, then add the brown sugar and maple syrup. Heat the mixture over medium flame, stirring constantly until the sugar has completely melted into the coconut milk.
- Once the mixture reaches a gentle boil, lower the heat and allow it to simmer for about 15-20 minutes. Stir it occasionally to ensure it doesn’t stick to the bottom, watching for it to thicken to a syrupy consistency that coats the back of a spoon.
- After simmering, take the saucepan off the heat and incorporate the sea salt and vanilla extract, stirring thoroughly to blend all the flavors together.
- Let the caramel sauce cool for a few minutes before pouring it into a glass jar or airtight container. It will continue to thicken as it cools down completely.
