Description

Tendon Hot Pot is a hearty and comforting dish featuring tender beef tendon simmered in a flavorful broth with fresh vegetables and tofu.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups beef tendon, cleaned and cut into chunks
  • 6 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice wine
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced (shiitake or button)
  • 1 cup bok choy, chopped
  • 1 cup carrots, sliced
  • 1 cup daikon radish, sliced
  • 1 package (14 oz) firm tofu, cubed
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, combine the beef broth, soy sauce, rice wine, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, and onion.
  2. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the beef tendon to the pot and reduce the heat to low.
  4. Simmer for about 2 hours, or until the tendon is tender.
  5. Stir in the mushrooms, bok choy, carrots, and daikon radish.
  6. Cook for an additional 10-15 minutes, until the vegetables are tender.
  7. Gently add the cubed tofu and cook for another 5 minutes to heat through.
  8. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  9. Serve hot, garnished with chopped green onions.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add sliced jalapeños or a dash of chili oil to the broth.
  • You can substitute the beef tendon with chicken or shrimp for a different flavor profile.
