- 2 sheets of puff pastry (thawed)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional, such as pecans or walnuts)
- 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, mix together the sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out each sheet of puff pastry to smooth out any creases.
- Brush the melted butter evenly over the surface of each pastry sheet.
- Sprinkle half of the cinnamon sugar mixture over each pastry, leaving a small border around the edges.
- If using, sprinkle the chopped nuts evenly on top of the sugar mixture.
- Starting from one edge, tightly roll each pastry sheet into a log.
- Slice the log into 1-inch pieces to create individual snails.
- Place the snails cut-side up on the prepared baking sheet.
- Brush the tops with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the pastries are puffed and golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- For a chocolate twist, add mini chocolate chips to the filling before rolling.
- For a fruity flavor, incorporate dried fruit like raisins or cranberries with the cinnamon sugar.
