- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons matcha powder
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, diced
- 1/4 cup cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, combine the milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
- Divide the dough in half. Add matcha powder to one half and mix until fully incorporated.
- Roll out the matcha dough on a floured surface into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
- Spread half of the cream cheese over the matcha dough, then sprinkle half of the diced strawberries on top.
- Roll the dough tightly from one long side to the other, then slice into 1-inch pieces.
- Repeat with the remaining dough, cream cheese, and strawberries.
- Place the rolls in the prepared baking dish, cut side up.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
- While the rolls are baking, mix the powdered sugar and lemon juice into the remaining cream cheese until smooth.
- Once the rolls are done, let them cool slightly before drizzling the cream cheese mixture on top.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
- For a richer flavor, consider adding a teaspoon of almond extract to the cream cheese mixture.
- You can also substitute the strawberries with raspberries or blueberries for a different fruit twist.
