- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup fruit jam (strawberry, raspberry, or your choice)
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon. Whisk until well mixed.
- Add the melted butter, buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined; do not overmix.
- Pour half of the batter into the prepared cake pan. Spoon the fruit jam evenly over the batter, then top with the remaining batter, spreading it gently to cover the jam.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cooled, dust the top with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, substitute half of the buttermilk with sour cream.
- Add a sprinkle of nutmeg or cardamom to the dry ingredients for an extra layer of flavor.
