- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon unflavored gelatin
- 1/4 cup cold water
- Fresh berries for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine the heavy cream, sour cream, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt. Whisk until the mixture is smooth and the sugar is dissolved.
- In a small saucepan, sprinkle the gelatin over the cold water and let it sit for about 5 minutes to bloom.
- Heat the saucepan over low heat, stirring until the gelatin is completely dissolved. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- Gradually whisk the dissolved gelatin into the cream mixture until fully incorporated.
- Pour the mixture into individual serving cups or a large serving dish.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or until set.
- Once set, serve chilled, garnished with fresh berries if desired.
Notes
- For a fruity twist, blend in some pureed fruit like strawberries or raspberries before pouring into cups.
- For a lighter version, substitute half of the heavy cream with milk or a non-dairy alternative.
