Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 manicotti shells
  • 15 ounces ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the manicotti shells according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside to cool slightly.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, 1/2 cup of mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, egg, oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  4. Carefully fill each manicotti shell with the cheese mixture using a spoon or a piping bag.
  5. Spread 1 cup of marinara sauce on the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  6. Arrange the filled manicotti shells in the baking dish on top of the sauce.
  7. Pour the remaining marinara sauce over the filled shells, ensuring they are well covered.
  8. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese on top.
  9. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  10. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  11. Let the manicotti cool for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil if desired.

Notes

  • For a meatier version, add cooked ground beef or Italian sausage to the cheese filling.
