Description
A flavorful low carb dish featuring ground beef and cabbage, perfect for a healthy meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 4 cups green cabbage, shredded
- 1/4 cup soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar substitute (like erythritol)
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
- Sesame seeds (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute, stirring frequently to prevent burning.
- Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Stir in the soy sauce, brown sugar substitute, ground ginger, and red pepper flakes (if using). Cook for another 2-3 minutes to combine the flavors.
- Add the shredded cabbage to the skillet, stirring well to incorporate. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the cabbage is tender but still slightly crisp.
- Remove from heat and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds if desired. Serve hot.
Notes
- For added crunch, consider topping the dish with crushed peanuts or chopped nuts.
- Substitute ground beef with ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option. Adjust cooking time as needed.
