Description

A delicious Korean Steak Sandwich recipe that combines marinated flank steak with spicy mayo, kimchi, and fresh green onions, all served in a hoagie roll.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound flank steak
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • 1 cup kimchi, drained and chopped
  • 1/2 cup sliced green onions
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and black pepper.
  2. Add the flank steak to the marinade, ensuring it is well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for more flavor.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Remove the steak from the marinade and discard the marinade.
  5. Cook the steak for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness.
  6. Remove from heat and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing thinly against the grain.
  7. In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, gochujang, and rice vinegar until well combined.
  8. Slice the hoagie rolls and spread the spicy mayo on both sides.
  9. Layer the sliced steak on the bottom half of each roll.
  10. Top with chopped kimchi and sliced green onions.
  11. Place the top half of the roll on each sandwich.
  12. Serve immediately, or wrap in foil and keep warm until ready to serve.

Notes

  • For a sweeter flavor, add sliced pickled carrots to the sandwich.
  • For a vegetarian option, substitute the steak with marinated and grilled portobello mushrooms.
