A delicious low-carb casserole that combines the flavors of pizza in a hearty dish, perfect for those following a keto diet.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (14-ounce) can diced tomatoes, drained
  • 1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup sliced pepperoni
  • 1 cup bell peppers, diced (any color)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives (optional)
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and Italian sausage until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  3. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, cooking until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Stir in the drained diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. In a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, layer half of the meat mixture on the bottom.
  6. Sprinkle half of the pepperoni, bell peppers, mozzarella cheese, and Parmesan cheese over the meat.
  7. Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  9. If using black olives, sprinkle them on top during the last 5 minutes of baking.
  10. Let the casserole cool for 5-10 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired.
