- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 pound Italian sausage
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (14-ounce) can diced tomatoes, drained
- 1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup sliced pepperoni
- 1 cup bell peppers, diced (any color)
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup sliced black olives (optional)
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and Italian sausage until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Add the diced onion and minced garlic, cooking until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Stir in the drained diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- In a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, layer half of the meat mixture on the bottom.
- Sprinkle half of the pepperoni, bell peppers, mozzarella cheese, and Parmesan cheese over the meat.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- If using black olives, sprinkle them on top during the last 5 minutes of baking.
- Let the casserole cool for 5-10 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired.

- For a vegetarian option, substitute the meat with sautéed mushrooms and zucchini.
- Add your favorite low-carb vegetables like spinach or artichokes for extra flavor and nutrition.
