Description

A delightful twist on traditional focaccia, this Homemade Jam Donut Focaccia combines the sweetness of jam with the fluffy texture of bread.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) instant yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup warm milk (about 110°F)
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup fruit jam (your choice, such as raspberry or strawberry)
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting
  • Vegetable oil, for greasing

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, instant yeast, granulated sugar, and salt. Mix well to combine.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the warm milk, egg, and melted butter. Pour this mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat your oven to 375°F.
  6. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a greased baking sheet. Gently stretch and shape the dough into a rectangle or circle, about 1/2 inch thick.
  7. Use your fingers to create dimples all over the surface of the dough. Spoon the fruit jam into the dimples, spreading it evenly.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the focaccia is golden brown.
  9. Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, try adding a teaspoon of vanilla extract to the wet ingredients.
  • You can also experiment with different jams or even fill the dimples with Nutella for a chocolatey twist.
