Description
Indulge in the sweet joy of making your own Homemade Cadbury Creme Eggs with this easy recipe.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup light corn syrup
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup milk chocolate chips
- Yellow food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the powdered sugar, corn syrup, softened butter, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix until well combined and a dough forms.
- Divide the dough into two equal parts. Add a few drops of yellow food coloring to one half and mix until the color is evenly distributed. This will be the yolk filling.
- Roll the white filling into small egg shapes, about 1 inch long. Do the same with the yellow filling, making smaller balls for the yolk.
- Gently press the yellow filling into the center of the white filling to form an egg shape. Repeat until all the filling is used. Place the formed eggs on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Chill the eggs in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to firm up.
- While the eggs are chilling, melt the white chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth.
- Dip each chilled egg into the melted white chocolate, allowing any excess to drip off. Place back on the parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Melt the milk chocolate chips in the same manner and drizzle over the white chocolate-coated eggs for decoration.
- Allow the chocolate to set at room temperature or refrigerate for about 15 minutes until firm.
Notes
- For a creamier filling, add an extra tablespoon of heavy cream to the mixture.
- For a fun twist, try adding a hint of almond extract to the filling for a different flavor profile.
