Ingredients

  • 1 cup Greek yogurt (plain, non-fat or full-fat)
  • 1/2 cup honey or maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup chia seeds
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8-inch round cake pan and line the bottom with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the black cocoa powder, Greek yogurt, honey (or maple syrup), chia seeds, applesauce, eggs, vanilla extract, baking soda, and salt. Mix until well combined and smooth.
  3. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan, spreading it evenly.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  5. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then carefully transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  6. Once cooled, slice and serve. This cake can be enjoyed plain or topped with fresh berries or a dollop of whipped cream.
