Description
Delicious and easy-to-make chocolate coconut nests filled with candy eggs, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups dark chocolate chips
- 1 cup peanut butter chips
- 1 cup crispy rice cereal
- 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
- 1/2 cup pastel candy-coated chocolate eggs (or gummy candies)
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
Instructions
- Begin by melting the dark chocolate and peanut butter chips together in a heatproof bowl set over a pot of simmering water, stirring until the mixture is silky and well combined. Remove from heat and allow it to cool for a few minutes.
- In a separate large bowl, mix together the crispy rice cereal, shredded coconut, and walnuts if you choose to use them.
- Drizzle the melted chocolate mixture over the cereal blend and gently stir until everything is thoroughly coated in the chocolate.
- Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with wax paper. Using a scoop or spoon, drop dollops of the mixture onto the sheet, forming little nests.
- Create a small hollow in the center of each nest using your finger or a small utensil.
- Fill each hollow with a few pastel candy-coated chocolate eggs or gummy candies for a pop of color.
- Chill the nests in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes, allowing them to firm up.
- Once they are set, enjoy them right away or keep them stored in a sealed container in the fridge for later snacking.
Notes
- For a seasonal flair, use themed candy eggs that match the holiday.
- Swap the crispy rice cereal for crushed pretzels for a delightful sweet and salty twist.
