A savory and delicious recipe for French Dip Squares that combines tender roast beef with a cheesy crust.

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup cooked roast beef, shredded
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix well.
- Add the softened butter to the flour mixture and blend until crumbly.
- Stir in the mozzarella cheese until evenly distributed.
- Press half of the dough mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking dish to form a crust.
- In a separate bowl, mix the shredded roast beef, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Spread this mixture evenly over the crust in the baking dish.
- Crumble the remaining dough mixture over the beef filling to create a topping.
- Brush the beaten egg over the top of the dough for a golden finish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
- Allow to cool for 10 minutes before cutting into squares. Serve warm with extra beef broth for dipping.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add some sliced jalapeños to the beef mixture.
- You can substitute the roast beef with shredded chicken or turkey for a different flavor profile.
