Description

Crispy Goat Cheese Poppers with Honey are irresistibly delicious bites that combine creamy goat cheese with a crunchy exterior, drizzled with sweet honey.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces goat cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • Fresh herbs (like thyme or parsley) for garnish (optional)
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, scoop the softened goat cheese and form it into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter.
  2. Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet and freeze for 30 minutes to firm up.
  3. Set up a breading station: In one shallow dish, place the flour. In a second dish, beat the egg. In a third dish, combine the panko breadcrumbs, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper.
  4. Remove the cheese balls from the freezer and roll each ball in the flour, then dip it in the beaten egg, and finally coat it with the seasoned panko breadcrumbs.
  5. In a large skillet, heat about 1 inch of oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F.
  6. Carefully add the breaded cheese balls to the hot oil in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan.
  7. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.
  8. Remove them with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  9. Drizzle the warm goat cheese poppers with honey and garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
  10. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a spicy twist, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the breadcrumb mixture.
  • For a sweeter option, try using maple syrup instead of honey for drizzling.
