Ingredients

  • 2 cups banana peppers, sliced into rings
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 cups breadcrumbs
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
  2. Pour the buttermilk into a separate bowl.
  3. Dip each banana pepper ring into the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off, then coat it in the flour mixture.
  4. Return the coated pepper to the buttermilk, then dredge it in the breadcrumbs until fully coated.
  5. In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F.
  6. Carefully add the coated banana peppers to the hot oil in batches, frying until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  7. Remove the fried peppers with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  8. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, try adding 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese to the breadcrumb mixture.
  • For a spicy kick, sprinkle some cayenne pepper into the flour mixture or serve with a spicy dipping sauce.
