Description
Crispy Fried Banana Peppers are a delicious snack or appetizer that offers a perfect crunch with every bite.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups banana peppers, sliced into rings
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 cups breadcrumbs
- Vegetable oil, for frying
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
- Pour the buttermilk into a separate bowl.
- Dip each banana pepper ring into the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off, then coat it in the flour mixture.
- Return the coated pepper to the buttermilk, then dredge it in the breadcrumbs until fully coated.
- In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F.
- Carefully add the coated banana peppers to the hot oil in batches, frying until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Remove the fried peppers with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
- For extra crunch, try adding 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese to the breadcrumb mixture.
- For a spicy kick, sprinkle some cayenne pepper into the flour mixture or serve with a spicy dipping sauce.
