Description
A delicious homemade version of the classic Cadbury Eggs, perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/4 cup corn syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup shredded coconut (optional, for texture)
- 1 cup milk chocolate chips
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the powdered sugar, cocoa powder, softened butter, corn syrup, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix until well combined and a dough forms.
- If using, fold in the shredded coconut for added texture.
- Divide the mixture into 12 equal portions and shape each portion into an oval egg shape.
- Place the shaped eggs on a parchment-lined baking sheet and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to firm up.
- While the eggs are chilling, melt the milk chocolate chips and vegetable oil together in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth.
- Once the eggs are firm, dip each egg into the melted chocolate, ensuring they are fully coated.
- Return the coated eggs to the parchment-lined baking sheet and allow the chocolate to set at room temperature or refrigerate for quicker setting.
- Serve immediately or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
Notes
- For a creamier filling, add 2 tablespoons of heavy cream to the mixture.
- Try using different flavored extracts like almond or mint instead of vanilla for a fun twist.
