A deliciously moist Chocolate Espresso Banana Bread that combines the rich flavors of chocolate and espresso with the sweetness of ripe bananas.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1/3 cup melted coconut oil
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 tablespoon instant espresso powder
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas and melted coconut oil. Stir until well mixed.
- Add the granulated sugar, brown sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract to the banana mixture. Mix until combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the baking soda, salt, all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, and instant espresso powder.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Fold in the chocolate chips and walnuts, if using.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, add 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon to the dry ingredients.
- Substitute half of the all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour for a healthier option.
