- 2 cups cooked rotini pasta
- 2 cups cooked, shredded chicken
- 1 jar (24 ounces) marinara sauce
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped (optional)
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (optional for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked rotini pasta, shredded chicken, marinara sauce, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly coated.
- Stir in 1 cup of mozzarella cheese and half of the Parmesan cheese into the pasta mixture. If using, add the chopped basil for extra flavor.
- Transfer the mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- Top the casserole with the remaining mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese. If desired, sprinkle breadcrumbs over the top for added crunch.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
- Let the casserole cool for about 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
- For a lighter version, substitute whole wheat pasta and use low-fat cheese.
- Add vegetables like spinach, zucchini, or bell peppers to the mixture for added nutrition and flavor.
