Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the buttermilk. Begin and end with the flour mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. Gently fold in the sliced peaches, being careful not to overmix.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and spread it evenly.
  8. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
