Description
Black Sesame Mochi Donuts are a unique sweet delight made with glutinous rice flour and black sesame paste, offering a chewy texture and rich flavor.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup glutinous rice flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup black sesame paste
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil (for frying)
- Powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the glutinous rice flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. Mix well until all dry ingredients are evenly distributed.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the water, black sesame paste, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring until a thick batter forms.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot over medium heat.
- While the oil is heating, prepare a donut mold or shape the donuts by hand. If using a mold, lightly grease it with oil.
- Spoon the batter into the donut mold, filling each cavity about 3/4 full. If shaping by hand, form small rings with the batter.
- Once the oil is hot (around 350°F), carefully place the donuts in the oil, a few at a time, and fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
- Remove the donuts from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- If desired, dust the warm donuts with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
- For a chocolate twist, add 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder to the dry ingredients.
- Experiment with different toppings such as toasted coconut, chopped nuts, or a drizzle of chocolate sauce for added flavor.
