Description
A delightful recipe for baked Brie wrapped in phyllo dough, perfect for entertaining or a cozy night in.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 ounces Brie cheese
- 6 sheets of phyllo dough
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1/4 cup chopped pecans or hazelnuts
- 1/4 cup chopped dried figs or cherries
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme, chopped (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F.
- On a flat surface, take one sheet of phyllo dough and brush it generously with melted butter. Layer another sheet on top, repeating this process until all six sheets are stacked and well-buttered.
- Position the Brie in the center of the phyllo stack. Pour maple syrup over the cheese, allowing it to seep into the crevices.
- Disperse the chopped nuts, dried fruit, and thyme (if using) evenly over the Brie. Add a sprinkle of salt and pepper to enhance the flavors.
- Carefully fold the phyllo edges over the Brie, creating a neat pouch by gathering the corners at the top. Brush the exterior with additional melted butter for a beautiful golden finish.
- Transfer the wrapped Brie onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the phyllo is crisp and golden brown.
- Once baked, let it sit for about 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- For an added layer of flavor, consider spreading a thin layer of savory chutney beneath the Brie before wrapping it in phyllo.
- Feel free to switch up the nuts or dried fruits according to your taste, such as using walnuts or apricots for a different twist.
