Description
Baked Feta Shakshuka is a delicious Mediterranean-inspired dish featuring eggs poached in a spicy tomato sauce, topped with creamy baked feta cheese.

- 1 block of feta cheese
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 1 red bell pepper, chopped
- 4 large eggs
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large oven-safe skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté onions and garlic until translucent.
- Add ground cumin and smoked paprika, stirring for about 1 minute.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes and red bell pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- Make four wells in the sauce and gently crack an egg into each well.
- Place the block of feta in the center of the skillet.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the eggs are set and the feta is golden.
- Season with salt and pepper, and garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
Notes
- Serve with crusty bread for dipping.
- Adjust the amount of spices to taste for desired heat.
- This dish can be made ahead of time and reheated in the oven.
