A deliciously unique recipe for Asian-Inspired Korean Meatloaf that combines ground beef and pork with flavorful ingredients.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated carrot
  • 1/2 cup chopped green onions
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon minced ginger
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/4 cup ketchup (for topping)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a loaf pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, grated carrot, and chopped green onions.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, sesame oil, brown sugar, minced garlic, minced ginger, egg, black pepper, salt, and red pepper flakes if using.
  4. Pour the wet mixture into the meat mixture and mix until well combined, but do not overmix.
  5. Transfer the meat mixture into the prepared loaf pan and shape it into a loaf.
  6. Spread the ketchup evenly over the top of the meatloaf.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
  8. Remove from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add more red pepper flakes or a dash of Sriracha to the meat mixture.
  • You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option while maintaining flavor.
