- 1 pound pizza dough, store-bought or homemade
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 bunch asparagus, trimmed and cut into 2-inch pieces
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a 12-inch circle. Transfer the dough to a pizza peel or a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Brush the olive oil evenly over the surface of the dough.
- In a bowl, mix the ricotta cheese, half of the mozzarella, half of the Parmesan, minced garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper until well combined. Spread this mixture over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
- In a separate bowl, toss the asparagus pieces with a little olive oil, salt, and pepper. Scatter the asparagus evenly over the ricotta mixture.
- Top with the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses. If desired, sprinkle red pepper flakes for added heat.
- Carefully slide the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone or place the baking sheet in the oven.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired, then slice and serve.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, add a sprinkle of lemon zest over the top before serving.
- Try substituting the asparagus with other vegetables like spinach or artichokes for a different twist.
