Ingredients

  • 1 pound pizza dough, store-bought or homemade
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 bunch asparagus, trimmed and cut into 2-inch pieces
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat.
  2. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a 12-inch circle. Transfer the dough to a pizza peel or a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  3. Brush the olive oil evenly over the surface of the dough.
  4. In a bowl, mix the ricotta cheese, half of the mozzarella, half of the Parmesan, minced garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper until well combined. Spread this mixture over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
  5. In a separate bowl, toss the asparagus pieces with a little olive oil, salt, and pepper. Scatter the asparagus evenly over the ricotta mixture.
  6. Top with the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses. If desired, sprinkle red pepper flakes for added heat.
  7. Carefully slide the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone or place the baking sheet in the oven.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
  9. Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired, then slice and serve.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, add a sprinkle of lemon zest over the top before serving.
  • Try substituting the asparagus with other vegetables like spinach or artichokes for a different twist.
