Description

Indulge in these festive White Chocolate Peppermint Mousse Cups, perfect for holiday celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces of white chocolate, finely chopped
  • 1 cup of heavy cream, divided
  • 1 teaspoon of peppermint essence
  • 2 large egg whites
  • 1/4 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt
  • 1/2 cup of crushed peppermint candies (plus extra for decoration)
  • 1/4 cup of mini chocolate chips (optional, for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Begin by melting the white chocolate in a heatproof bowl over a pot of simmering water, stirring frequently until it becomes silky and smooth. Remove from heat and let it cool to room temperature.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whip 3/4 cup of heavy cream until it forms soft peaks, then add the peppermint essence and continue whipping until you achieve stiff peaks.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg whites until they become frothy, then gradually add the granulated sugar and sea salt, beating until stiff peaks form.
  4. Carefully incorporate the cooled white chocolate into the whipped cream, mixing gently until fully blended.
  5. Next, fold in the whipped egg whites with a light hand, ensuring no white streaks remain.
  6. Add the crushed peppermint candies and gently mix to combine.
  7. Transfer the mousse mixture into individual dessert cups and place them in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours to firm up.
  8. Just before serving, whip the remaining 1/4 cup of heavy cream until soft peaks form and spoon a generous dollop on top of each cup. Finish with a sprinkle of extra crushed peppermint candies and mini chocolate chips for a festive touch.

Notes

  • For a colorful twist, consider adding a few drops of red food coloring to the mousse before folding in the egg whites for a beautiful marbled appearance.
  • You can also swap out the crushed peppermint candies for graham cracker crumbs or chocolate cookie crumbs for a different flavor experience.
