Description
A delicious and low-carb twist on traditional samosas, filled with extra-spiced lamb and baked to perfection.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground lamb
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup almond flour
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, chopped (optional)
- Cooking spray or additional olive oil for frying
Instructions
- In a skillet over medium heat, heat the olive oil.
- Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Stir in the garlic and ginger, cooking for another minute until fragrant.
- Add the ground lamb to the skillet, breaking it up with a spoon. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the cumin, coriander, garam masala, chili powder, turmeric, salt, and pepper. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the spices are well combined.
- Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the mozzarella cheese, almond flour, and egg. Mix until a dough forms. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more almond flour until manageable.
- Preheat your oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Divide the dough into 8 equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball, then flatten it into a circle about 1/4 inch thick.
- Place a spoonful of the lamb mixture in the center of each circle.
- Fold the dough over to create a half-moon shape and pinch the edges to seal.
- Place the samosas on the prepared baking sheet. Lightly spray or brush with cooking spray or olive oil.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- Serve warm, garnished with fresh cilantro if desired.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add diced jalapeños to the lamb mixture.
- For a vegetarian option, substitute the lamb with sautéed mushrooms and spinach, seasoning them with the same spices.
