A delightful spread made with dried figs, honey, and vanilla, perfect for toast or as an appetizer.
Ingredients

- 1 cup dried figs, stems removed and chopped
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, combine the chopped figs and water. Bring to a simmer over medium heat and cook for about 5 minutes, or until the figs are soft.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
- Transfer the fig mixture to a blender or food processor. Add honey, vanilla extract, salt, and lemon juice. Blend until smooth and creamy.
- Taste and adjust sweetness if necessary by adding more honey.
- Pour the spread into a clean jar and let it cool completely before sealing. Store in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
Notes
- For a spicier flavor, add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the mixture before blending.
- This spread pairs wonderfully with cream cheese or goat cheese on toast or crackers for a delightful appetizer.
