- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 4 hearty rolls (like ciabatta or bolillos)
- 1 cup fresh arugula or mixed greens
- 1 medium tomato, thinly sliced
- 1 ripe avocado, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup creamy mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
Instructions
- Heat your grill or a grill pan to a medium-high temperature.
- In a mixing bowl, combine garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper to create a flavorful rub.
- Generously coat the flank steak with the spice blend.
- Drizzle the grill with olive oil and place the seasoned steak on it.
- Grill for approximately 4-5 minutes per side for a medium-rare finish, adjusting the time based on your preferred doneness.
- Transfer the steak to a cutting board and allow it to rest for about 5 minutes before slicing it thinly against the grain.
- While the steak is resting, cut the rolls in half and toast them lightly on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.
- In a separate bowl, combine the mayonnaise with lime juice and mix well.
- Spread the zesty mayo on the inside of each toasted roll.
- Assemble the sandwiches by layering the sliced steak on the bottom half of each roll, followed by arugula or mixed greens, slices of tomato, and avocado.
- Place the top half of the roll on each sandwich and enjoy your delicious creation right away.
