Instructions
- Begin by boiling the diced potatoes in a large pot of salted water until they are fork-tender, which should take around 15-20 minutes. Once cooked, drain the potatoes and allow them to cool for a few minutes.
- Next, mash the potatoes in a bowl until they are completely smooth and let them cool down to room temperature.
- Incorporate the egg, melted butter, sour cream, sea salt, and black pepper into the mashed potatoes, stirring until everything is thoroughly mixed.
- Gradually blend in the flour, kneading gently until a soft, pliable dough forms. If the dough feels too sticky, sprinkle in a bit more flour as needed.
- On a floured surface, roll the dough out to about 1/4-inch thick. Use a round cutter or a glass to cut out circles approximately 3 inches in diameter.
- Spoon a small amount of the potato filling onto the center of each circle. Fold the dough over to create a semi-circle and firmly pinch the edges to ensure they are sealed.
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil. Carefully drop the dumplings in batches into the water and cook until they rise to the top, which should take about 3-5 minutes.
