Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 teaspoon flaky sea salt (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Mix in the vanilla extract and the egg until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Using a teaspoon, scoop small amounts of dough and place them about 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Sprinkle a tiny pinch of flaky sea salt on top of each cookie.
  9. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are golden but the centers are still soft.
  10. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
