Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 teaspoon flaky sea salt (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Mix in the vanilla extract and the egg until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Using a teaspoon, scoop small amounts of dough and place them about 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheet.
- Sprinkle a tiny pinch of flaky sea salt on top of each cookie.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are golden but the centers are still soft.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- These cookies are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week.
- For a richer flavor, try using dark chocolate chips instead of semi-sweet.
- You can also add a teaspoon of espresso powder to the dough for a mocha twist.
