Description

Discover a delicious recipe for Thai Basil Beef Rolls, a flavorful dish that combines ground beef with fresh herbs and vegetables wrapped in rice paper.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup fresh Thai basil leaves, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon fish sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 8 rice paper wrappers
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • 1 cup cucumber, julienned
  • Fresh cilantro leaves for garnish
  • Lime wedges for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  2. Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Stir in the chopped Thai basil, soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, sugar, and black pepper. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the basil is wilted and the mixture is well combined. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  4. Fill a shallow dish with warm water. Dip one rice paper wrapper into the water for about 10-15 seconds until it becomes pliable.
  5. Place the softened rice paper on a clean surface. In the center, add a few tablespoons of the beef mixture, a small handful of shredded carrots, and a few slices of cucumber.
  6. Fold the sides of the rice paper over the filling, then roll it up tightly from the bottom to the top, like a burrito. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.
  7. Serve the rolls garnished with fresh cilantro leaves and lime wedges on the side.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add sliced jalapeños or a dash of sriracha to the beef mixture.
  • Substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option, and feel free to add other vegetables like bell peppers or avocado for extra flavor and nutrition.
