Description
Discover a delicious recipe for Thai Basil Beef Rolls, a flavorful dish that combines ground beef with fresh herbs and vegetables wrapped in rice paper.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 cup fresh Thai basil leaves, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 teaspoon fish sauce
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 8 rice paper wrappers
- 1 cup shredded carrots
- 1 cup cucumber, julienned
- Fresh cilantro leaves for garnish
- Lime wedges for serving
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the chopped Thai basil, soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, sugar, and black pepper. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the basil is wilted and the mixture is well combined. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Fill a shallow dish with warm water. Dip one rice paper wrapper into the water for about 10-15 seconds until it becomes pliable.
- Place the softened rice paper on a clean surface. In the center, add a few tablespoons of the beef mixture, a small handful of shredded carrots, and a few slices of cucumber.
- Fold the sides of the rice paper over the filling, then roll it up tightly from the bottom to the top, like a burrito. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.
- Serve the rolls garnished with fresh cilantro leaves and lime wedges on the side.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add sliced jalapeños or a dash of sriracha to the beef mixture.
- Substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option, and feel free to add other vegetables like bell peppers or avocado for extra flavor and nutrition.
