Description

A delicious and aromatic dish featuring tender beef stir-fried with Thai basil and served over fragrant lemongrass rice.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups fresh Thai basil leaves
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 cup jasmine rice
  • 1 stalk lemongrass, chopped
  • 2 cups water

Instructions

  1. Rinse the jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. In a pot, combine the rinsed rice, chopped lemongrass, and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes or until rice is cooked.
  3. In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant.
  4. Add the sliced beef to the skillet and stir-fry until browned.
  5. Stir in soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, and sugar. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat and fold in the fresh Thai basil leaves until wilted.
  7. Serve the beef mixture over the lemongrass rice.

Notes

  • For a spicier dish, add sliced chili peppers during the stir-fry.
  • Make sure to use fresh Thai basil for the best flavor.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
