Description
Taguella Touareg is a delicious bread recipe that is easy to make and perfect for serving with dips or as a side dish.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 3/4 cup warm water (more if needed)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and baking powder. Mix well to ensure even distribution of the dry ingredients.
- Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and add the olive oil. Gradually pour in the warm water while mixing with a fork or your hands until a dough begins to form.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it is smooth and elastic. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour as needed.
- Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- After resting, divide the dough into 4 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and then flatten it into a disc about 1/4 inch thick.
- Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Cook each disc for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove from the skillet and keep warm in a clean kitchen towel while you cook the remaining discs.
Notes
- For a twist, try adding herbs or spices like cumin or rosemary to the dough for extra flavor.
- You can also serve the Taguella with dips like hummus or tzatziki for a delicious appetizer.
- If you prefer a whole grain option, substitute half of the all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour.
