Description
A delightful recipe for Sweet Potato Mash with a rich Cinnamon Butter Swirl, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 large sweet potatoes (about 2 pounds)
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- Salt, to taste
- Pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup (optional)
Instructions
- Peel the sweet potatoes and cut them into 1-inch cubes. Place them in a large pot and cover with cold water. Add a pinch of salt and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Cook for 15-20 minutes or until the sweet potatoes are fork-tender.
- Drain the sweet potatoes and return them to the pot. Add 2 tablespoons of butter, salt, and pepper to taste. Mash the sweet potatoes until smooth and creamy. If desired, stir in the maple syrup for added sweetness.
- In a small bowl, combine the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter, ground cinnamon, and brown sugar. Mix until well combined.
- Serve the sweet potato mash in a bowl, creating a small well in the center. Drizzle the cinnamon butter mixture on top and swirl gently with a spoon to create a marbled effect.
Notes
- For a savory twist, add a pinch of nutmeg or a dash of cayenne pepper to the sweet potato mash.
- Top with chopped pecans or walnuts for added crunch and flavor.
