- 4–5 large sweet potatoes
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- Pecan Topping:
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup melted butter
- 1 cup chopped pecans
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Boil or steam sweet potatoes until tender. Mash and mix with butter, brown sugar, eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Spread sweet potato mixture in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Prepare pecan topping by combining brown sugar, flour, butter, and pecans.
- Sprinkle topping over sweet potatoes and bake for 30-35 minutes until golden.
Notes
- To add a marshmallow topping, layer mini marshmallows on top during the last 10 minutes of baking.
- Make ahead by preparing the sweet potato mixture and topping separately, then assemble and bake when ready.
