Description

A refreshing and unique dessert that combines the sweetness of strawberries with the aromatic flavor of basil, layered in a delightful icebox cake.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 package of ladyfinger cookies
  • 1/2 cup milk

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine sliced strawberries and chopped basil. Set aside to marinate for about 15 minutes.
  2. In another bowl, whip the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
  3. Dip ladyfinger cookies in milk briefly and layer them in the bottom of a serving dish.
  4. Spread a layer of the whipped cream over the ladyfingers.
  5. Add a layer of the marinated strawberries and basil on top of the whipped cream.
  6. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of whipped cream on top.
  7. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight to set.
  8. Serve chilled, garnished with additional strawberries and basil if desired.

Notes

  • For a more intense basil flavor, you can blend some basil into the whipped cream.
  • Make sure to use ripe strawberries for the best flavor.
