Description

Sticky Sesame Tofu is a delicious and flavorful dish that combines crispy tofu with a sweet and savory sesame sauce.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 block firm tofu, pressed and cubed
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • 2 green onions, chopped

Instructions

  1. Press the tofu to remove excess moisture and cut it into cubes.
  2. In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, honey (or maple syrup), rice vinegar, garlic, and ginger.
  3. Heat sesame oil in a pan over medium heat and add the tofu cubes.
  4. Cook the tofu until golden brown on all sides.
  5. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with a little water to create a slurry.
  6. Add the sauce mixture to the pan with the tofu and bring to a simmer.
  7. Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook until the sauce thickens.
  8. Sprinkle sesame seeds and chopped green onions on top before serving.

Notes

  • For a gluten-free version, use tamari instead of soy sauce.
  • Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less honey/maple syrup.
  • Serve with steamed rice or vegetables for a complete meal.
