Description

Delicious and festive Spooky Eyeball Truffles perfect for Halloween celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup white chocolate chips
  • Red food coloring
  • Candy eyes (available at craft stores or baking sections)

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it just begins to simmer. Remove from heat and add the semi-sweet chocolate chips and vanilla extract. Stir until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth.
  2. Allow the chocolate mixture to cool to room temperature, then cover and refrigerate for about 1 hour, or until it is firm enough to scoop.
  3. Once chilled, use a melon baller or your hands to scoop out small portions of the chocolate mixture and roll them into balls. Place the truffles on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  4. In a shallow bowl, combine the cocoa powder and powdered sugar. Roll each truffle in the mixture until fully coated.
  5. Melt the white chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth. Add a few drops of red food coloring to create a blood-like effect.
  6. Drizzle the red-tinted white chocolate over each truffle and place a candy eye on top before the chocolate sets.
  7. Refrigerate the truffles for about 15 minutes to allow the chocolate drizzle to harden.

Notes

  • For a spookier effect, use dark chocolate for the truffles and add crushed nuts or cookie crumbs to the coating.
  • Experiment with different food coloring to create various ‘blood’ effects or use colored candy melts for the drizzle.
