Description
Delicious and festive Spooky Eyeball Truffles perfect for Halloween celebrations.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup white chocolate chips
- Red food coloring
- Candy eyes (available at craft stores or baking sections)
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it just begins to simmer. Remove from heat and add the semi-sweet chocolate chips and vanilla extract. Stir until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth.
- Allow the chocolate mixture to cool to room temperature, then cover and refrigerate for about 1 hour, or until it is firm enough to scoop.
- Once chilled, use a melon baller or your hands to scoop out small portions of the chocolate mixture and roll them into balls. Place the truffles on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- In a shallow bowl, combine the cocoa powder and powdered sugar. Roll each truffle in the mixture until fully coated.
- Melt the white chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth. Add a few drops of red food coloring to create a blood-like effect.
- Drizzle the red-tinted white chocolate over each truffle and place a candy eye on top before the chocolate sets.
- Refrigerate the truffles for about 15 minutes to allow the chocolate drizzle to harden.
Notes
- For a spookier effect, use dark chocolate for the truffles and add crushed nuts or cookie crumbs to the coating.
- Experiment with different food coloring to create various ‘blood’ effects or use colored candy melts for the drizzle.
