  • 1 orange, cut into rounds
  • 2 sticks of cinnamon
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 2 star anise pods
  • 1/4 cup of honey or maple syrup (to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence

Instructions

  1. Begin by pouring the red wine and apple cider into a large pot and heating it over medium flame.
  2. Introduce the orange rounds, cinnamon sticks, cloves, star anise, honey or maple syrup, and vanilla essence into the pot.
  3. Gently stir the mixture to blend the flavors, then allow it to come to a gentle simmer without boiling.
  4. Lower the heat and let the concoction simmer for about 20 to 30 minutes, allowing the spices to infuse their warmth into the liquid.
  5. After simmering, taste the infusion and adjust the sweetness by adding more honey or syrup if desired.
  6. Once ready, take the pot off the heat and strain the liquid through a fine mesh sieve to remove the spices and orange.
  7. Pour the warm infusion into mugs, and for an extra touch, garnish with additional orange slices or a cinnamon stick.
