Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon matcha green tea powder
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for rolling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, matcha powder, and cocoa powder until well combined.
  3. In a large bowl, mix the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vegetable oil until smooth.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. The dough will be thick.
  6. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to make it easier to handle.
  7. Once chilled, scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll them into balls.
  8. Roll each ball in powdered sugar until fully coated and place them on the prepared baking sheet about 2 inches apart.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set but the centers are still soft. Let them cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, try adding 1/2 cup of chocolate chips to the dough before chilling.
  • If you want a more intense matcha flavor, increase the matcha powder to 2 tablespoons.
