Description
Delicious and fluffy soft butter dinner rolls that are easy to make and perfect for any meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups warm milk (110°F to 115°F)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 4 to 5 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 large egg
- Additional melted butter for brushing
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk and sugar.
- Sprinkle the yeast over the milk and let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- Add the melted butter, salt, and egg to the yeast mixture. Stir to combine.
- Gradually add 4 cups of flour, one cup at a time, mixing until a soft dough forms. If the dough is sticky, add more flour, a little at a time, until it pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Once risen, punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces.
- Shape each piece into a ball and place them in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and brush the tops with melted butter.
- Let the rolls cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- For a sweeter roll, add 1 teaspoon of cinnamon to the dough.
- Try adding herbs like rosemary or garlic powder for a savory twist.
