Description

Delicious and fluffy soft butter dinner rolls that are easy to make and perfect for any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups warm milk (110°F to 115°F)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 to 5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg
  • Additional melted butter for brushing

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk and sugar.
  2. Sprinkle the yeast over the milk and let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  3. Add the melted butter, salt, and egg to the yeast mixture. Stir to combine.
  4. Gradually add 4 cups of flour, one cup at a time, mixing until a soft dough forms. If the dough is sticky, add more flour, a little at a time, until it pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
  5. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  6. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  7. Once risen, punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces.
  8. Shape each piece into a ball and place them in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  9. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  10. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  11. Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  12. Remove from the oven and brush the tops with melted butter.
  13. Let the rolls cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • For a sweeter roll, add 1 teaspoon of cinnamon to the dough.
  • Try adding herbs like rosemary or garlic powder for a savory twist.
