Description

Create magical festive treats with these delightful Snow Globe Cookies, perfect for holiday celebrations!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 23 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon clear vanilla extract (for icing)
  • Assorted sprinkles and edible glitter for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
  8. In a medium bowl, mix the powdered sugar, milk, and clear vanilla extract until smooth to create the icing. Adjust the consistency with more milk or powdered sugar as needed.
  9. Once the cookies are completely cool, use a spoon or piping bag to drizzle the icing over the cookies. Decorate with assorted sprinkles and edible glitter to create a snow globe effect.
  10. Allow the icing to set for about 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a chocolate version, substitute ½ cup of flour with ½ cup of cocoa powder.
  • Add crushed peppermint candies to the icing for a festive touch and extra flavor.
