- 8 oz elbow macaroni
- 2 cups shredded smoked Gouda cheese
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 3 cups milk
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
- In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour and cook for 1-2 minutes.
- Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens.
- Add the smoked Gouda and cheddar cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.
- Combine the cooked macaroni with the cheese sauce and mix well.
- Transfer the mac and cheese to a greased baking dish.
- In a bowl, mix breadcrumbs with olive oil and sprinkle over the mac and cheese.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden brown and crispy.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add cooked bacon or sautéed vegetables.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
