Description

A delicious and crispy recipe for Smashed Bacon Brussels Sprouts made in an air fryer.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
  • 4 slices bacon, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar (optional)
  • Chopped fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the halved Brussels sprouts, chopped bacon, olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Toss until the Brussels sprouts are well coated.
  3. Place the Brussels sprouts in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook for 15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through.
  4. After 15 minutes, remove the basket and use a fork or the back of a spatula to gently smash each Brussels sprout.
  5. Return the smashed Brussels sprouts to the air fryer and cook for an additional 5-7 minutes until crispy and golden brown.
  6. If desired, drizzle with balsamic vinegar before serving and garnish with chopped parsley.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese on top during the last few minutes of cooking.
  • Substitute the bacon with turkey bacon or omit it entirely for a vegetarian version.
