- 4 burger buns

Instructions
- Preheat your griddle or skillet over medium-high heat.
- Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions.
- Form each portion into a loose ball without compacting it.
- Place the beef balls on the hot surface and immediately smash them down with a spatula.
- Season with salt and pepper.
- Cook for about 2-3 minutes until a crust forms, then flip the burgers.
- If using cheese, place a slice on each burger after flipping.
- Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the cheese melts and the burgers are cooked to your liking.
- Toast the burger buns on the griddle for a minute.
- Assemble the burgers with your favorite condiments and toppings.
