Description

Sweet and Crunchy Slow Cooker Candied Nuts

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups mixed nuts (almonds, pecans, walnuts, cashews)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a slow cooker, combine the mixed nuts, granulated sugar, butter, vanilla extract, cinnamon, salt, and nutmeg (if using). Stir until the nuts are well coated.
  2. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 2 hours, stirring every 30 minutes to ensure even coating and prevent burning.
  3. After 2 hours, spread the nuts onto a parchment-lined baking sheet in a single layer. Let them cool completely, which will allow them to harden.
  4. Once cooled, break apart any clusters and store the candied nuts in an airtight container at room temperature.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the mixture before cooking.
  • To make a chocolate version, melt 1/2 cup of chocolate chips and drizzle over the cooled nuts before storing.
