Delicious and fluffy Sesame Scallion Buns, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon instant yeast
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup warm water (about 110°F)
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup scallions, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, instant yeast, and salt. Mix well.
- Gradually add the warm water and vegetable oil to the dry ingredients, stirring until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
- Brush the surface of the dough with sesame oil and sprinkle the chopped scallions evenly over the top.
- Roll the dough tightly into a log, then cut the log into 8 equal pieces.
- Shape each piece into a bun and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Cover the buns with a damp cloth and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F.
- Brush the tops of the buns with a little water and sprinkle sesame seeds on top.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add a teaspoon of red pepper flakes to the scallion mixture.
- You can substitute half of the all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour for a healthier option.
