Delicious Salted Caramel Date & Walnut Spiral Rolls that are perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup warm milk (about 110°F)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup pitted dates, chopped
- 1 cup walnuts, chopped
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup salted caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the melted butter, egg, and the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
- Place in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
- Spread the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture evenly over the dough.
- Sprinkle the chopped dates and walnuts on top.
- Drizzle the salted caramel sauce over the filling.
- Starting from one long edge, carefully roll the dough into a tight log.
- Cut the log into 12 equal pieces.
- Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover with a cloth, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and sprinkle with sea salt. Drizzle with additional caramel sauce if desired.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, try adding a teaspoon of vanilla extract to the dough.
- You can also substitute pecans for walnuts for a different nutty taste.
- For a chocolate twist, add mini chocolate chips to the filling.
